Job Title: Medical Technologist

Pay: $35.00/hr + $4.95 H&W
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Clearance: Background investigation required
Contract Type: Federal – Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP)
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a qualified Medical Technologist to join our team and provide full-time clinical laboratory services at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. This role will support the Laboratory Medicine Service by performing a wide range of testing and diagnostic analysis across various lab modalities, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Primary Responsibilities:
– Perform lab procedures in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology.
– Analyze and validate specimens, identifying abnormal results and reporting critical values.
– Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab instruments and equipment.
– Conduct quality control, calibration, and validation studies to ensure accurate testing.
– Collect patient samples as needed (phlebotomy).
– Document and verify results in VA laboratory information systems.
– Maintain lab inventory and adhere to safety and compliance protocols.
– Communicate professionally with interdisciplinary staff and assist with clerical duties when required.
Minimum Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an NAACLS-accredited program.
– Certification from ASCP or AMT required.
– Active, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory.
– Minimum 1 year of experience in the past 3 years.
– BLS (CPR) certification from AHA or equivalent required.
– Proficiency in EHR systems preferred (VISTA/CPRS or Oracle Cerner).
– Must be computer literate and proficient in English.
